VC Guitars Jade archtop 17" 2002
VC Guitars Jade model, made in 2002.
The Jade model is VC Guitars' basic archtop, made with the same workmanship and quality as the Ruby and Sapphire models, but less ornate and with less figured tonewoods. In this case, it's a 17" body guitar, with a handcarved European spruce top, handcarved European maple back, 3-1/8" rim depth and floating Benedetto B6 pickup with volume and tone controls mounted on the pickguard. Tuners are Schaller M6, and the pickguard, tailpiece and bridge are made by VC Guitars from solid ebony.
The guitar was made in 2002 (one of my first archtops) and was mainly used by myself in duo settings; the only damage on this guitar are some markings on the headstock and the neck from a guitar hanger and guitar stand that were made with rubber that was incompatible with the finish of the guitar (see photos). It was recently refretted with medium/high fretwire, and is set up with Galli .011 flatwound strings.
This guitar comes with a gigbag, and can be tested at the workshop.
